Urban Interns Is Launching In Boston!

You heard it here first!  We're launching in Boston in early September.

Whether you have a client in Boston and need some local support or you're colleagues in Boston could also use an extra set of hands, Urban Interns will soon become the go-to marketplace for connecting small business owners with college-students and grads seeking part-time work and internships.

Good news travels fast, and we already have Urban Intern registrations from Boston area students and recent grads. We've also received a warm welcome from  career services folks at Boston University and Boston College (see us listed as a resource on the BC Career Services page!).

PLEASE HELP US spread the word and forward this news to your colleagues in the small business, startup, and entrepreneurship community in Boston.  Stay tuned for more details.

  1. Street Team volunteers needed for Community Servings!
If you’re enthusiastic about giving back to your community, know how to work a crowd, and not afraid to get a little silly, Community Servings’ needs your help this fall!
Our guerilla marketing group is looking for 15-20 college-age volunteers who can engage the public and spread the word about our annual Thanksgiving fundraiser, “Pie in the Sky”, and have fun in the process!
Pie in the Sky is entering its 17th year and aims to raise almost $400,000 to support Community Servings’ meals and nutrition program for the critically ill. Each day, in 16 cities and towns across Eastern Massachusetts, we deliver free, nutritious lunches, dinners and snacks to 725 individuals and families who are struggling with over 22 different illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes and MS.
From October until the day before Thanksgiving, our Pie Street Team will hit the streets of Boston to spread awareness about our pie sale and educate the public about our mission. Duties will include: handing out fliers, engaging local businesses to display our marketing materials, generating interest and attracting attention in high-traffic public venues, and serving as a Pie Ambassador. Volunteer opportunities may include: wearing a Pie Costume, running a pie eating contest, appearing at Pie-related events, organizing a Flash Mob and potential media relations. Dates and times for Pie Street Team assignments are TBD and we can work with your schedule.
This is a great resume-builder for outgoing, media-savvy individuals. Volunteer groups, marketing clubs and theater students are encouraged to apply!
If you are interested in getting involved, please contact Alison Hunt at ahunt@servings.org.
